Short summary (English)

Department carries out scientific and professional researches in the field of applied, analytical, organic and structural chemistry of nanosized molecular systems in several laboratories. Research in the Laboratory of organic chemistry is focused on the synthesis and determination of structure-property relationship of new heterocyclic compounds. Current research includes synthesis of benzothiazole, benzimidazole, and benzoxazole ligands and their metal complexes and their characterization using spectroscopic techniques (IR, NMR, UV-Vis, MS). In the Laboratory of general and inorganic chemistry scientific research is focused on molecular and crystal structure determination, using single crystal X-ray diffraction, of small organic molecules, transition metal complexes and organometallic compounds with potential biological activity, dye or magnetic properties. Chemical crystallography includes Schiff bases and heterocyclic compounds, metal complexes of 3d transition series, ferrocene and organotin derivatives, polyoxomolybdate clusters. In the Laboratory of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis ICP-OES is used for major, minor and trace element analysis of textile, leather and polymer materials, textile wastewater and many other biological and environmental samples. UV-Vis spectroscopy is used for determination of metal ions and surface active species. New methods are developed for digestion, extraction, spectrometric and thin layer chromatographic determination of analytes.

U Zavodu se provode znanstvena i stručna istraživanja u području primijenjene, analitičke, organske i strukturne kemije molekulskih sustava nanodimenzija u okviru nekoliko laboratorija. Istraživanja u okviru Laboratorija za organsku kemiju usmjerena su na sintezu i postavljanje suodnosa strukture i fizičko-kemijskih svojstava novih heterocikličkih spojeva. Trenutni istraživački rad uključuje sintezu benzotiazolskih, benzoksazolskih i benzimidazolskih liganada i njihovih metalnih kompleksa, te njihovu karakterizaciju koristeći spektroskopske tehnike (IR, NMR, UV-Vis, MS). U okviru Laboratorija za opću i anorgansku kemiju znanstveno istraživanje je usmjereno na određivanje molekulske i kristalne strukture, malih organskih molekula, kompleksa prijelaznih metala i organometalnih spojeva sa potencijalnom biološkom aktivnošću, bojadisarskim ili magnetskim svojstvima uporabom metode difrakcije rentgenskih zraka na jediničnom kristalu. Kemijska kristalografija uključuje: Schiffove baze i heterocikličke spojeve, 3d metalne komplekse, ferocenske i organokositrove derivate te polioksomolibdatne klustere. U okviru Laboratorija za analitičku kemiju i instrumentalnu analizu induktivno spregnuta plazma optička emisijska spektrometrija koristi se za analizu mikro i makro komponenata, te u analizi tragova metalnih iona u tekstilnim, polimernim i kožnim uzorcima kao i uzorcima iz okoliša. UV-Vis spektroskopija koristi se u analizi metalnih iona u otpadnim vodama tekstilne industrije. Razvijaju se nove metode za pripremu uzorka (razaranjem, ekstrakcijom) te za njegovu analizu (ICP-OES, UV-Vis te TLC metodama).
