Short summary (English)

The research group at the Department of Analytical Chemistry has a long-standing experience in investigation and application of chromatographic separation processes, as well as in application and development of analytical techniques in environmental protection focused on determination of traces of pollutant in water, sediment and soil. The key expertise lies in the area of development, optimization and validation of chromatographic separation and quantification (high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ion chromatography (IC)) for the determination of organic pollutants (pesticides, pharmaceuticals) in the environmental samples with related development of sample preparation methods for chromatographic determination (solid phase extraction (SPE), microwave assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE)). The described activities are severely supported by applied chemometric (artificial intelligence, evolutionary programming etc.) enabling more efficient extraction of useful information. The group is currently running projects to develop advanced analytical methods for pharmaceuticals determination in environmental samples and ion exchange processes in industrial water quality systems.

Istraživačka grupa na Zavodu za analitičku kemiju ima dugogodišnje iskustvo u istraživanju i primjeni kromatografskih separacijskih procesa, te primjeni i razvoju analitičkih tehnika u području zaštite okoliša s naglaskom na određivanje tragova zagađivala u vodi, sedimentu i tlu. Ključna istraživanja odnose se na razvoj optimizaciju i validaciju kromatografskih metoda (tekućinska kromatografija visoke djelotvornosti (HPLC) i ionska kromatografija (IC)) za određivanje organskih zagađivala (pesticidi, farmaceutici) u uzorcima iz okoliša te razvoj postupaka pripreme uzorka za kromatografsku analizu (ekstrakcija čvrstom fazom(SPE), mikrovalna ekstrakcija (MAE) i ultrazvučna ekstrakcija (USE)). Opisane aktivnosti su snažno potpomognute primjenom kemometrije (umjetna inteligencija, evolucijski algoritmi itd.) što omogućuje učinkovitije dobivanje korisne informacije. Trenutno vodimo projekte vezano uz razvoj naprednih analitičkih postupaka za određivanje farmaceutika u uzorcima iz okoliša te primjeni procesa ionske izmjene u sustavu kvalitete industrijskih voda.
