Short summary (English)

The base of our research consists of different aspects of biodiversity distribution. Using the GIS, statistical methods and other technologies we integrate various types of data (field collected, remote sensing, GIS derived) relevant for description and explanation of spatial distribution of biological entities. We are very interested in habitat/vegetation dynamics and its influence on biodiversity at various thematic and spatial scales, and on impact of used scale on obtained results and conclusions. This also includes environmental monitoring and assessments. We focus in particular on invasive plant species with aim to get better understanding of their spreading and environmental conditions that promote their success. We can provide expert knowledge in projects involving identification of main driving forces that affects and/or explain terrestrial biodiversity, which include: habitats, vegetation, flora, ornithofauna, herpetofauna and parts of entomofauna.

Short summary (Croatian)

Temelj naših istraživanja čine različiti aspekti prostorne razdiobe biološke raznolikosti. Korištenjem geografskih informacijskih sustava, statističkih metoda i drugih tehnologija, integriramo različite vrste podataka (terenski prikupljene, izračunate u GIS okruženju, podatke daljinskog promatranja) koji su relevantni za objašnjenje rasprostranjenosti živih organizama. Vrlo smo zainteresirani za dinamiku staništa/vegetacije i njenog utjecaja na biološku raznolikost pri različitim tematskim i prostornim mjerilima, kao i utjecaju korištenih razlučenja na dobivene rezultate i zaključke. Vezano s ovim je i praćenje staništa te procjene utjecaja na okoliš. Poseban naglasak stavljamo na istraživanje invazivnih biljnih vrsta s ciljem boljeg razumijevanja njihovog širenja i okolišnih uvjeta koji tome doprinose. Možemo pružiti znanja i usluge u projektima koji uključuju prepoznavanje glavnih čimbenika koji utječu na biološku raznolikost kopnenih ekosustava uključujući: staništa, vegetaciju, floru, ornitofaunu, herpetofaunu i dijelove entomofaune.
