Short summary (English)

Scientific and expert interest area of the Department of Agricultural Botany is focused on floristic, morphological and ecophysiological research of different cultivated and native vascular plant species of Croatia. Special attention is paid on influence of increased concentration of tropospheric ozone on anatomical structure of some agricultural plants. Significant research is dedicated to floristic and vegetation investigations, mainly dealing within grasslands, weed vegetation and successional stadium of grassland vegetation, feed value of grassland and grassland species, as well as potential findings of new rare plant sites, endangered habitats and general distribution of rare and endemical plant species in Croatia. Within floristic investigation, the team of researchers is focused on flora mapping of national territory, including Mediterranean and continental parts of Croatia. Among wider taxonomic research, that includes morpho-anatomical, cytological and molecular aspects, special attention is dedicated to some plant genera, endemic and rare species of Croatian and Mediterranean vascular flora that are of large botanical interest. A part of scientific interest of the Department deal with morphological and molecular diversity of forage species with the aim of conservation of plant genes diversity in gene banks, as well as their in situ and ex situ conservation.

Short summary (Croatian)
