Short summary (English)

The research expertise comprises mineralogical, petrological and geochemical studies of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary (clastic and carbonate) rocks, ore deposits, soils, materials from cultural heritage objects, slags and other materials which are products of technological processes as well as of the materials that can be used in the environmental protection e.g. as bacterial carriers, environmental impact assessment. The studies include reconstruction of P-T-t path(s) and stability fields of mineral assemblages, geothermobarometry, destructive tomography, illite & chlorite crystallinity measurements, thin sections preparation and their study on polarizing and ore microscope, separation of light and heavy mineral fractions, granulometric analysis, XRD and IR analyses, fluid inclusion studies, interpretation of stable and radiogenic isotope data, water quality assessment.

Ekspertize koje se provode na Mineraloško-petrografskom zavodu uključuju mineraloška, petrološka i geokemijska istraživanja magmatskih, metamorfnih i sedimentnih (klastičnih i karbonatnih) stijena, rudnih ležišta, tala, materijala s objekata spomeničke baštine, troski i drugih produkata tehnoloških procesa te materijala koji se primjenjuju u zaštiti okoliša npr. kao nosači bakterija kojima se želi poboljšati efikasnost pročiščivača otpadnih voda. Takva istraživanja temelj su i procjenama utjecaja na okoliš. Istraživanja uključuju rekonstrukciju P-T-t evolucijskog puta, proračun stabilnosti mineralnih asocijacija, geotermobarometriju, destruktivnu tomografiju, određivanje kristaliniteta illita i klorita, studije provenijencije, analize evolucije sedimentacijskih bazena, izrade optičkih preparata od rastresitih i čvrstih materijala, optička istraživanja polarizacijskim i rudnim mikroskopom, separacije lake i teške mineralne frakcije, granulometrijske analize nevezanih i vezanih materijala, analize metodom rendgenske difrakcije na praškastim materijalima, infracrvenu spektroskopiju, istraživanja fluidnih inkluzija, interpretaciju podataka o stabilnim i radioaktivnim izotopima, procjene kvaliteta voda.
