Short summary (English)

The main focus of our research group is kart from the geomorphologic and palaeoecological point of view. We are dealing with questions of the development and evolution of karst terrains. The research involves the study of the influence of geological structure in karts relief primarily on dolines as it is a diagnostic karstic form. For the analyses of karst relief the knowledge of denudation intensity is of crucial importance. For this purpose we use primarily the method of limestone tablets. The karst denudation depends on many different parameters, so the microclimatic measurement, (at the surface and in the underground) the soil and vegetation analyses are done in the same areas. Karst in often modified by other morphogenetic processes, like the glacial one which occurs during the past. Consequently we are also dealing with the analysis of past glacial environment, again on the surface but also in the underground. These periods are directly related to the different sea and land distribution in the Adriatic area what plays a major role on plaleoenvironmental properties during the late Pleistocene and Holocene. So we use different markers (geomorphological e.g. tidal notches, speleothems, biological e.g. algae, archaeological remains) to establish the past climate properties and to define and explain the past sea level relations particularly during the last 2000 years. As researchers we are particularly qualified for filed work (sampling, measurement, mapping, diving, using speleological techniques, monitoring).

Naša grupa bavi se istraživanjem krša s aspekta geomorfologije i paleookoliša tj. pitanjima nastanka, evolucije i recentne dinamike krškog reljefa. Istraživanja obuhvaćaju pitanja utjecaja geološke strukture na razvoj krških reljefnih oblika, prvenstveno ponikava, kao dijagnostičkog krškog reljefnog oblika. S obzirom da je za analizu krških reljefnih oblika poznavanje intenziteta krške denudacije krucijalno u tu svrhu koristimo metodu vapnenačkih pločica. Intenzitet krške denudacije ovisi o brojnim parametrima stoga se na istom području kao i mjerenje obavljaju i mikroklimatološka mjerenja te analiza tla i vegetacije. Krški je reljef često pod utjecajem i drugih morfogenetskih procesa, kao što su to npr. glacijalni procesi koji su bili značajni u prošlosti. Stoga je jedan od ciljeva naših istraživanja i analiza glaciokrša (na površini i u speleološkim objektima). Ta su razdoblja direktno povezana s različitom raspodjelom kopna i mora na području Jadrana što ima vrlo važnu ulogu u rekonstrukciji obilježja palookoliša tijekom kasnog pleistocena i holocena. Zato rabimo različite markere (geomorfološke – plimne potkapine, sige, biološke – alge, arheološke markere i dr.) da bi rekonstruirali paleoklimatska obilježja te da bi definirali i objasnili kolebanje morske razine osobito tijekom posljednjih 2000 godina. Kao istraživači osposobljeni smo za terenski rad (uzorkovanje, mjerenje, kartiranje, ronjenje, speleološke tehnike, monitoring).
