Short summary (English)

Department has profiled itself in educational, expert and scientific sense as one of the leading institutions in Croatia for research, design, building and maintenance of electric machines, drives (electrical equipment), industrial and electrical plants. Besides its main activity, education, department has strong expert and science connection with key companies in this area. It deals with lots of projects that deal with specific expert problems in industry. When dealing with such problems, department employees develop themselves in both science and expert ways. That knowledge is then included in educational process. Interconnection and interaction of educational, science and expert activities, especially through exact cooperation with industry, determines that one of these activities can not be mentioned without other two. The main direction of study program is in electric machines and drives, as well as industry plant automation and control. Study program purpose is to educate for development, design, production control, commissioning and maintenance of modern electrical equipment. Also necessary knowledge in management is acquired. Interactive real-time simulation systems based on virtual reality: simulators for complex missions and tasks, simulator based training and selection, numerical methods, 3D modeling and visualization. Generic technology for multimedia and synthetic virtual stimuli generation, as well as estimation of cognitive and emotional states from physiological measurements, voice and facial expressions, with potential applications in training of emotional and cognitive control under stressful conditions.

Zavod se profilirao u nastavnom, stručnom i znanstvenom pogledu kao jedna od vodećih institucija u Hrvatskoj na području istraživanja, projektiranja, gradnje i održavanja električnih strojeva, elektromotornih pogona i (elektrotehničke opreme) industrijskih i električnih postrojenja. Osim bavljenja svojom osnovnom djelatnošću - obrazovanjem - Zavod širi i produbljuje stručne i znanstvene veze s ključnim tvrtkama iz gospodarstva. Preuzima niz projekata u kojima se rješavaju konkretni stručni problemi gospodarstva. Osim neposredne koristi za gospodarstvo, znanstveno-nastavni kadar Zavoda, kroz neposrednu stručnu i znanstvenu suradnju na rješavanju konkretnih zadaća iz prakse, sam sebe razvija, a stečena znanja i iskustva prenosi u nastavni proces i nastavne planove. Uvjetovanost i isprepletenost obrazovne, znanstvene i stručne djelatnosti, posebno kroz konkretnu suradnju s gospodarstvom, ide tako daleko, da se ne govori i ne raspravlja o jednoj od njih a da intenzivno nisu prisutne i ostale dvije. Težište studija je na proučavanju električnih strojeva i elektromotornih pogona te upravljanju i automatizaciji postrojenja u industriji, elektroenergetici i transportu. Svrha je studija obrazovanje i osposobljavanje za razvoj, inženjersko projektiranje, upravljanje proizvodnjom, puštanje u pogon i održavanje suvremene elektrotehničke opreme. Stječu se neophodna znanja iz managementa. Interaktivni simulacijski sustavi u stvarnom vremenu na temelju prividne stvarnosti: simulatori za složene misije i zadatke, obuka i selekcija zasnovana na simulatorima, numeričke metode, 3D modeliranje i vizualizacija. Generička tehnologija za generiranje multimedijskih i sintetičkih virtualnih stimulacija, kao i estimaciju kognitivnih i emocionalnih stanja iz fizioloških mjerenja, glasa i izraza lica, s mogućim primjenama u treningu emocionalne i kognitivne kontrole pod stresnim uvjetima.
