Short summary (English)

Department of Pharmacognosy has three main research interests: (i) the isolation and structural elucidation of secondary metabolites from higher plants with antioxidant, antineurodegenerative, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, antitumor, antidiabetic and hepatoprotective activity, (ii) pharmacobotanical characterisation and chemotaxonomic investigations, (iii) identification and quality control of herbal drugs and phytopharmaceuticals. This combination of several different approaches offers means for an extensive and efficient research in field of pharmacognosy. The group has broad expertise in identification of medicinal and toxic plants; quality control of herbal products, phytochemical analyses of essential oils, flavonoids, phenolic acids, coumarins, tannins, triterpenes, sterols, saponins and alkaloids; isolation and structural determination of natural products; various in vitro and enzymatic assays.

U okviru Zavoda za farmakognoziju postoje tri područja znanstvenog interesa: (i) izolacija i strukturna karakterizacija sekundarnih metabolita viših biljaka s antioksidativnim, antineurodegenerativnim, protuupalnim, antitumorskim, antidijabetičnim i hepatoprotektivnim učincima, (ii) farmakobotanička i kemotaksonomska istraživanja, (iii) identifikacija i kontrola kakvoće biljnih droga i fitofarmaceutika. Istraživačka skupina posjeduje ključne ekspertize u identifikaciji ljekovitih i otrovnih biljaka; kontroli kakvoće fitopreparata; fitokemijskoj analizi eteričnih ulja, flavonoida, fenolnih kiselina, kumarina, trjeslovina, triterpena, sterola, saponina i alkaloida; izolaciji i određivanju strukture bioaktivnih prirodnih tvari; različitim in vitro i enzimskim testovima.
