Short summary (English)

The research work of the employees of the Soil Science Department covers the areas of ameliorative pedology, hydro-pedology, management of irrigation and drainage amelioration systems, soil genesis, soil physics and chemistry, digital pedo-cartography, soil and water protection in agriculture, and multifunctional land suitability assessment. Numerous scientific studies of soil and water pollution in agro-ecosystems are being performed, with a particular emphasis on the concentrations of nitrate and ammonium nitrogen, certain heavy metals, and pesticide residues in soil and water. In addition, the Department continuously conducts research related to creation of environmental impact studies, planning documents, conceptual solutions and conceptual projects related to agro- and hydro-amelioration, as well as to various expertise that include multi-purpose land evaluation, land information systems creation, correlation of national to international soil classifications, and recommendations for sustainable land management.

Istraživački rad djelatnika Zavoda za pedologiju pokriva područja meliorativne pedologije, hidropedologije, gospodarenja melioracijskim sustavima odvodnje i natapanja, geneze tla, fizike i kemije tla, digitalne pedokartografije, zaštite tla i voda u poljoprivredi, te višenamjenske procjene pogodnosti zemljišta. Obavljaju se brojna znanstvena istraživanja onečišćenja tla i voda u agroekosustavima, s posebnim naglaskom na koncentracije nitratnog i amonijačnog dušika, pojedinih teških metala, te ostataka pesticida u tlima i vodama. Pored navedenog, vrše se istraživanja vezana uz izradu studija utjecaja na okoliš, zatim uz izradu planskih dokumenta, idejnih rješenja i idejnih projekata vezanih uz agro i hidromelioracije, te raznih ekspertiza koje uključuju višenamjenska vrjednovanja zemljišta, izradu zemljišnih informacijskih sustava, korelacije nacionalnih s međunarodnim klasifikacijama tla, te izradu preporuka za održivo gospodarenje tlom
