Short summary (English)

FPZ University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, Institute of Water Transport (WTTI). WTTI Fields of Activity include intermodal transport, maritime and inland waterway planning, port management, implementation of intelligent transport systems in water transport. In previous studies, professional and scientific literature and scientific projects, the subject of research was focused on the segments of the intermodal transport system. Based on the technical projects in Croatia, the intensive construction of motorways has raised the level of transport service to an enviable level, whereas this has not happened for sea traffic and inland waterway traffic. Such development does not bring to the fore the comparative advantages of intermodal water traffic, nor is the integration of the water traffic system of the Republic of Croatia in the European transport network at the possible and desired level. The research of the establishment of intermodality and harmonization of the intermodal transport system represents the subject of several projects financed by the European Commission with emphasis on the analysis of the factors of success and factors of failure in development and establishment of intermodal transport. In the field of intermodal transport, a significant number of books has been published, several scientific and technical conferences held, at which the papers of the associates participating in the proposed project have been presented. However, up to now, no comprehensive studies have been performed, based on the implementation of scientific methodologies in research and in conceiving of scientific knowledge, which would result in guidelines and the model of integrating intermodal water transport system in the transport system as a whole i.e. the European transport network, that should be adopted at the level of national traffic development strategy.

Istraživačke ekspertize Fakulteta prometnih znnosti, Zavoda za vodni promet uključuju intermodalni transport, planiranje u vodnom prometu, upravljanje lučkim sustavima i aplikacija ITS-a u vodnom prometu. U prijašnjim razmatranjima, stručnoj i znanstvenoj literaturi te znanstvenih projektima, predmet istraživanja bio je fokusiran na segmente sustava intermodalnog transporta. Temeljem stručnih projekata u Hrvatskoj je intenzivnom izgradnjom autocesta podignuta razina prijevozne usluge na zavidnu razinu, dok isto nije učinjeno sa pomorskim prometom i prometom na unutarnjim plovnim putovima. Takav razvoj rezultirao je djelomično neusklađenim uvjetima na prometnom tržištu i nedovoljno iskorištenim i integriranim vodnim prometom. Takvim pristupom komparativne prednosti intermodalnog vodnog prometa ne dolaze do izražaja, također niti integracija sustava vodnog prometa RH u europskoj transportnoj mreži nije na mogućoj i željenoj razini.
