Main activities include research and development of textile materials by conventional and advanced processing technology according to environmental initiatives and market demands. Research involves processes of pre-treatment, dyeing, printing, finishing, textile care and waste water processing. The pre-treatment research include: desizing, scouring, bleaching, mercerisation, cationization and other processes of surface modification. The expertise of research colouration group is colour matching, dyeing and printing with synthetic, natural and multi-functional dyes. Finishing research is focused of application of different micro/nano agents and additives for targeted functionalisation or multi functionalisation of materials. Final properties of materials that can be modified are: dimensional stability, wrinkle resistance, hand, lusture, oil and water repellency, flame retardancy, antimicrobial, wellness, self-cleaning, etc. The main focus of textile care research group is in R&D of innovative powder and liquid detergents, washing and dry cleaning performances based on environmental postulates. Textile waste water treatments include chemical, physical-chemical and biological processes. The key characterisation expertises are identification of inorganic and organic compounds on materials and solutions by spectral analysis (HPLC, FTIR, UPF, whiteness and colour evaluation, fluorescence); thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, MCC, LOI) and surface characterisation (SEM-EDS and EKA).

Glavne aktivnosti uključuju istraživanje i razvoj tekstilnih materijala konvencionalnim i naprednim tehnologijama u skladu s ekološkim inicijativama i zahtjevima tržišta. Istraživanja uključuju procese predobrade, bojadisanja, tiska, oplemenjivanja, njege tekstila i obrade otpadnih voda. Istraživanja na području predobrade uključuju: odškobljavanje, iskuhavanje, bijeljenje, mercerizaciju, kationiziranje i druge procese modifikacije površine. Znanstveno-istraživački rad kolorističke grupe obuhvaća receptiranje, bojadisanje i tisak sintetskim, prirodnim i višefunkcijskim bojilima. Oplemenjivanje tekstila fokusirano je na istraživanje primjene mikro/nano sredstava i dodataka za postizanje ciljane funkcionalizacije ili višefunkcionalizacije materijala. Funkcionalizacijom se mogu postići: dimenzijska stabilnost, otpornost na gužvanje, opip, sjaj, ulje i vodo odbojnost, otpornost na gorenje, antimikrobni učinak, wellness, samočišćenje i dr. Glavno područje njege tekstila su R&D inovacije praškastih i tekućih deterdženata, pranje i kemijsko čišćenje temeljeno na ekološkim postulatima. Obrada tekstilnih otpadnih voda uključuje kemijske, fizikalno-kemijske i biološke procese. Ključne ekspertize istraživača su karakterizacija i identifikacija anorganskih i organskih spojeva na materijalima i u otopinama spektralnim analizama (HPLC, FTIR, UPF, bjelina, mjerenje boja, fluorescencija), termalnim analizama (DSC, TGA, MCC, LOI) i karakterizacijom površine (SEM-EDS i EKA).
