Short summary (English)

Being one of the well-equipped laboratories for materials testing in Croatia, Laboratory of the Department of Materials makes the basis of research activities at the Department. Core activities in laboratory are research and development but also laboratory testing and engineering services in the area of building materials and products. Quality management system of laboratory is arranged according to HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and the laboratory itself holds accreditation for several testing methods for concrete materials. Assigned by areas of activities Department has expert knowledge in: concrete technology (improving production of concrete and concrete products, applied research of using recycled materials for making concrete, application of special concretes and technologies); special testing (determination of cement heat of hydration, testing of resistance of reinforcement steel on corrosion, testing influence of high temperatures on concrete); inspection, condition assessment and design of repair of civil engineering objects; non-destructive testing (infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, monitoring of hardening of concrete on site); building physics and energy properties of buildings; numerical modelling (temperature and stress distribution in young concrete, thermal bridges, chloride ingress in concrete).

Kao jedan od najbolje opremljenih laboratorija za ispitivanje materijala u Hrvatskoj, laboratorij Zavoda za materijale čini okosnicu znanstveno-istraživačkog rada na Zavodu za materijale. Djelatnosti laboratorija su istraživanje i razvoj, te laboratorijske i inženjerske usluge u području građevinskih materijala i proizvoda. Sustav upravljanja kvalitetom laboratorija Zavoda za materijale organiziran je prema normi HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025, a sam laboratorij je akreditiran za ispitivanja u području betona. Prema područjima djelatnosti Zavod se bavi: tehnologijom betona (unaprjeđivanje proizvodnje betona i proizvoda od betona; istraživanja i primjena recikliranih materijala pri izradi proizvoda od betona; primjena posebnih betona i tehnologija); specijalnim ispitivanjima (određivanje topline hidratacije cementa, ispitivanje otpornosti armature na koroziju, ispitivanje otpornosti betona na visoke temperature); pregledima, ocjenom stanja i projektiranjem sanacija građevinskih objekata; ispitivanjima bez razaranja (infracrvena termografija, ultrazvučna karakterizacija materijala i objekata, praćenje očvršćivanja betona metodom zrelosti); građevinskom fizikom i energetskim obilježjima zgrada; numeričkim modeliranjem (distribucija temperature i naprezanja u mladom betonu, toplinski mostovi, transport klorida).
