Short summary (English)

Department for Geotechnics is one of nine departments on Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. Department staff consists of 6 professors, 4 junior researchers-assistants, 3 expert associates, laborant and secretary. It also has its own geotechnical laboratory. Department has longtime, both scientific and expert, involvement in geotechnical and geological engineering. Range of activities is large, including basic and applied research in domain of soil and rock mechanics, foundations, foundation pits, landslides, rockfalls, earthquake engineering, soil improvement (including re-use of industrial waste materials in sustainable soil improvement), tunneling, numerical modelling, non-destructive testing, laboratory investigation works, field investigation works (CPT, SASW, MASW, CSWS, refraction, reflection, GPR), monitoring (inclinometers, deformeters, micrometers, extensometers, clinometers, piezometers, pull-out equipment, PIT, vibration measurements), geothermal energy, geology, hydrogeology, surveying (digital level, total station, GPS), enviromental protection and risk assesment in geotechnics. Currently, there are two active research projects 'Testing and modelling of improved soil and rock', led by prof. Kovačević and funded by MZOS and 'UNIS - Device for non-destructive testing of rockbolts', led by prof. Marčić and funded by BICRO. Also, department staff is involved in three ongoing COST Actions dealing with impact of climate changes on engineered slopes for infrastructure, application of GPR in civil engineering and modelling of sub-urban space. Besides research work, there is strong involvement in expert work, ranging from investigation works, design, monitoring and consulting services.

Zavod za Geotehniku je jedan od devet zavoda na Građevinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Osoblje Zavoda čini 6 profesora, 4 znanstvena novaka-asistenta, 3 stručna suradnika, laborant i tajnik. Zavod također posjeduje vlastiti geotehnički laboratorij. Već dugi niz godina Zavod sudjelujuje u istraživačkom i stručnom radu u domeni geotehničkog i geološkog inženjerstva. Raspon aktivnosti je širok i uključuje temeljna i primjenjena istraživanja u domeni mehanike tla i stijena, sustava temeljenja, građevnih jama, klizišta, stijenskih odrona, potresnog inženjerstva, poboljšanja tla i stijena (uključujući održivo poboljšanje primjenom industrijskih nusproizvoda), tunelogradnje, numeričkog modeliranja, nerazonog ispitivanja, laboratorijskih istražnih radova, terenskih istražnih radova (CPT, SASW, MASW, CSWS, refrakcija, refleksija, GPR), monitoringa (inklinometri, deformetri, mikrometri, ekstenzometri, klinometri, piezometri, pull-out oprema, PIT, oprema za mjerenje vibracija), geotermalne energije, geologije, hidrogeologije, geodezije (digitalni nivelir, totalna stanica, GPS), zaštite okoliša i analize rizika u geotehnici. Trenutno su aktivna dva istraživačka projekta 'Ispitivanje i modeliranje poboljšanog tla i stijene', gdje je glavni istraživač prof. Kovačević i koji je financiran od strane MZOŠ i 'UNIS - Uređaj za nerazorna ispitivanja sidara', gdje je glavni istraživač prof. Marčić i financiran od strane BICRO-a . Također , djelatnici Zavoda sudjeluju u tri COST akcije koje se bave utjecajem klimatskih promjena na klizišta, primjeni GPR metode u građevinarstvu i modeliranju prostora ispod urbanih sredina. Osim istraživačkog rada, izražena je i stručna djelatnost, od faze istražnih radova i projektiranja, do monitoringa i konzultantskih usluga.
