Short summary (English)

Department of Structural Engineering is one of nine departments of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Zagreb. The department is traditionally organized in four divisions: Concrete and Masonry Structures, Steel Structures, Timber Structures and Bridges. Educational activities are the main activities of the department. With a huge number of courses in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level, news and innovations in structural engineering are continuously presented to the students. Since different areas of structural engineering are under the same Department the topics of research projects are also very different. Current research topics are: strengthening of concrete and masonry structures, structural connections in steel and timber, fatigue, thin walled structures, reliability, fire engineering, composite steel-concrete structures, different design types of connections in a precast structures, floors made of reinforced masonry units, brick elements and concrete, strengthening, assessment and monitoring of timber structures, new and innovative composite structures timber – load bearing glass, effective and adequate maintenance strategy for bridges, assessment methods and evaluation procedures of bridges exposed to different load and environmental conditions, modelling and assessment levels of all kind of structures, maintenance strategies optimization and so on. The constant presence of the papers at conferences around the world is a confirmation of the quality of research carried out at the Department. The Department is also quite strongly represented in extensive professional and practical work. In addition to design of timber, steel, aluminum, concrete, composite, glass structures and bridges, employees of the Department are involved in technical controls and revisions of projects as well as in the highly demanding expertise and reconstructions. In addition, they are participating in almost every technical committee for developing new Croatian standards at the State Office for Standardization.

Zavod za konstrukcije jedan je od devet zavoda Građevinskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Zavod je tradicionalno organiziran u četiri katedre: Betonske i zidane konstrukcije, Metalne konstrukcije, Drvene konstrukcije i Mostovi. Nastavnoj djelatnosti se u Zavodu poklanja velika pažnja kao osnovnoj djelatnosti fakulteta.U brojne kolegije preddiplomskog, diplomskog i poslijediplomskog studija, koje naši nastavnici predaju diljem države, stalno se uvađaju novine koje su trenutno aktualne u zemlji i svijetu.Kako Zavod obuhvaća četiri katedre, tako su i teme istraživačkih projekata vrlo raznolike. Trenutna istraživanja usmjerena su na ojačanja betonskih i zidanih konstrukcija, priključci u čeličnim konstrukcijama, umor materijala, tankostijeni profili, pouzdanost konstrukcija, požarno inženjerstvo, spregnute konstrukcije, procjena, ojačanja i monitoring drvenih konstrukcija, kompozitni sustavi drvo – nosivo staklo, detalji u drvenim konstrukcijama, utvrđivanje procedura za ocjenjivanje mostova izloženih različitim djelovanjima i uvjetima okoliša, razvijanje djelotvorne i prikladne strategije održavanja mostova, modeliranje postojećih konstrukcija i definiranje razina ocjenjivanja, potresno inženjerstvo, optimizacija strategije održavanja konstrukcija, projektiranje različitih vrsta spojeva u predgotovljenim konstrukcijama itd. U Zavodu je prilično jako zastupljena i opsežna stručna djelatnost.Osim projektiranja, u Zavodu se rade sve vrste tehničkih kontrola projekata kao i visokozahtjevnih ekspertiza i sanacija.Uz to, zaposlenici sudjeluju u gotovo svim tehničkim odborima za izradu novih hrvatskih normi pri Državnom zavodu za normizaciju i mjeriteljstvo.
