Short summary (English)

Research in the field of biomechanical, psychological and physical, cognitive, microclimate and termo-physical parameters of furniture for sitting and lying. Those parameters determine the new and serve to improve old design solutions and the use of different materials in new furniture. One of the main objectives of the research is the preservation and improvement of human health. *Development of new materials in the interaction between wood and adhesives through the improvement of the existing adhesive properties. The development base is the usage of raw materials from renewable resources, where their influence on the final quality of wood and the environmental factors are being controlled. *Development of new construction solutions, new methods of compiling and connecting of different construction parts, along with the research and development of new technologies. *Research of wood surface and nonwood-wood materials interface include a variety of environmentally friendly materials for modification and surface treatment. With the addition of nano-additives, the new nano-coatings can improve surface properties and change the chemical structure of wood. *Based on the experimental analysis of finished product and the testing of structural composition, the mathematical model is being developed. The design modeling includes the analysis of design solutions of various parts and finished wood products in existing CAD programs using finite element method. The developed construction simulation is being used for comparison of results obtained in laboratory testing. *International cooperation and involvement in current European researches.

Istražuju se nove spoznaje s područja biomehaničkih, psihofizičkih, kognitivnih, mikroklimatskih te fizikalno-termičkih parametara namještaja za sjedenje i ležanje, koji uvjetuju nova i poboljšanje starih oblikovno-konstrukcijskih rješenja i uporabu različitih i novih materijala u namještaju s ciljem očuvanja i poboljšanja zdravlja čovjeka. Razvoj novih materijala u istraživanjima iz područja interakcije drva i ljepila kroz poboljšavanja svojstava postojećih ljepila, te kroz baziranje na temeljnim sirovinama iz obnovljivih izvora, pri čemu se kontrolira njihov utjecaj na kakvoću finalnih drvnih proizvoda kao i na ekološke činitelje. Razvoj novih konstrukcijskih rješenja, novih metoda sastavljanja spajanjem i povezivanjem dijelova različitih konstrukcijskih oblika, uz istraživanje i razvoj novih tehnologija. Istraživanja površine drva i sučelja drvo-nedrvni materijal uključuju različite ekološki prihvatljive materijale za modifikacije i površinsku obradu, te nove nano premaze kojima se dodatkom nano aditiva mogu postići poboljšana svojstva površine, i promjene kemijske strukture drva. Na bazi eksperimentalne analize gotovih proizvoda i ispitivanja konstrukcijskih sastava razrađuje se matematički model. Oblikovno modeliranje obuhvaća analiziranje rješenja dijelova i gotovih drvnih proizvoda u postojećim CAD programima metodom konačnih elemenata. Izrada konstrukcijske simulacije služi za komparaciju rezulata dobivenih laboratorijskim ispitivanjem. Međunarodna suradnja i uključivanje u europske istraživačke tokove.
