Short summary (English)

Members of the Institute of Technology materials are divided into several research groups which are greater or lesser extent complement for its interdisciplinary. The main research fields are

  • wood chemistry and chemical wood processing,
  • sawmill technology,
  • hydrothermal treatment of wood and
  • technology of wood-composite materials from disintegrated, defibred and layered structures.

Specific research fields are chemical analysis of wood and its components, liquefied wood and its applications, novel types of pulps from wood and other plants for the paper production, the influence of various wood sawmill technologies on quantitative and qualitative utilization, impact of wood drying and steaming parameters on optimal properties of wood, development, design, preparation, characterization and optimization of new wood-biocomposite materials at the micro and nano scale, and their technology, synthesis and characterization of adhesives for wood-composite materials production, and phytosanitary protection. Within the Institute, there are several laboratories that have scientific specialists and equipment for the development of new wood and wood-composite materials and technologies. Furthermore, these laboratories provide testing services and according to European standards issue different types of quality documents for wood and wood-composite materials. Based on this, the Institute is authorized to establish and maintain phytosanitary system according to ISPM 15 in the field of wood packaging in international transport and also it is authorized to perform testing and conformity assessment of wood based panels for general use. Except for professional, the Institute has also an educational activity in terms of organizing phytosanitary seminars as the competent institution.

Članovi Zavoda za tehnologije materijala podijeljeni su u nekoliko istraživačkih skupina koje se u manjoj ili većoj mjeri nadopunjuju zbog svoje interdisciplinarnosti. Osnovna istraživačka područja su

  • kemija drva, tehnologije kemijske prerade drva,
  • pilanska tehnologija drva,
  • hidrotermička obrada drva i
  • tehnologije drvno-kompozitnih materijala iz usitnjene, razvlaknjene i uslojene strukture.

Specifična područja istraživanja su kemijske analize drva i njegovih komponenata, utekućeno drvo i njegova primjena, nove vrste vlakana iz drva i ostalih biljaka za proizvodnju papira, utjecaj pilanske tehnologije raznih drva na njegovo kvantitativno i kvalitativno iskorišćenje, utjecaja parametara sušenja i parenja drva vezano za dobivanje optimalnih svojstava drva, razvoj, projektiranje, priprema, karakterizacija i optimizacija svojstava novih drvno-biokompozitnih materijala na mikro i nano skali, te njihovih tehnologija, sinteza smola i karakterizacija ljepila za izradu drvno-kompozitnih materijala, te fitosanitarna zaštita. U sklopu Zavoda postoje nekoliko laboratorija koji posjeduju znanstveno-stručne osobe i opremu za razvoj novih drvnih i drvno-kompozitnih materijala i tehnologija. Nadalje, navedeni laboratoriji daju usluge ispitivanja i izdavanja različitih vrsta dokumenata o kvaliteti za drvo i drvno-kompozitne materijale prema europskim normama. Na temelju toga Zavod je ovlašten za uspostavu i održavanje fitosanitarnog sustava prema ISPM 15 u području drvene ambalaže u međunarodnom transportu i ovlašten za obavljanje poslova ispitivanja i ocjenjivanja sukladnosti drvnih ploča za opću uporabu. Osim stručne, Zavod ima i edukativnu aktivnost u smislu organiziranja fitosanitarnih seminara kao nadležna institucija.
