Short summary (English)

Department of Polymer Processing conducts scientific research aimed to boosting the efficiency of production processes, while contributing to the increased association of industry and Faculty. The development of packaging for disposal of medical waste, the original packaging for margarine and patented one-piece box for storing CDs should be noted. Other research fileds include injection moulding of polypropylene filled with wood particles and development of biodegradable polyurethane. The work of the Department in the field of ecology, i.e. waste management is paricularly important. Department has opened new areas, microtechnology and nanotechnology, as well as nanomaterials. In the last 5 years Department has participated in a number of international projects in which its staff have gained knowledge and experience in the application and implementation of EU-funded projects. Laboratory of Polymer Processing is involved in solving practical problems such as the selection of the most suitable materials, the recommendations in the selection of equipment for polymer processing, involvement in product development and mould, and cooperation with relevant specialized laboratories for testing and identification of polymers. The laboratory conducts rheological, mechanical and thermal calculations, injection moulding products price calculations, simulations of the mould cavity filling, creation of construction documentation, etc. The development of products and moulds, prototype series and additive manufacturing of products and moulds are further activities of laboratories, as well as the optimization of process parameters, help in fabrication of the composite products and mixing of rubber compounds. The laboratory is also involved in the certification of polymer products.

Katedra za preradu polimera provodi znanstvena istraživanja usmjerena povišenju učinkovitosti proizvodnih postupaka, pri čemu pridonosi pojačanoj povezanosti industrije i Fakulteta. Valja istaknuti razvoj ambalaže za zbrinjavanje medicinskog otpada, originalnu ambalažu za pakiranje margarina te patentiranu jednodijelnu kutiju za pohranjivanje CD-a. Dan je doprinos i injekcijskom prešanju polipropilena punjenoga drvenim česticama, provođena su i istraživanja na području biorazgradljivog poliuretana. Posebno treba istaknuti rad Katedre na području ekologije, tj. gospodarenja otpadom. Katedra je otvorila i nova područja, mikrotehnike i nanotehnike te nanomaterijala. U posljednjih 5 godina Katedra je sudjelovala na većem broju međunarodnih projekata na kojima su njeni djelatnici stekli dodatna znanja i iskustva u prijavi i izvođenju projekata koje financira EU Laboratorij za preradu polimera uključen je u rješavanje problema iz prakse kao što su izbor najpogodnijeg materijala, preporuke pri izboru opreme za preradbu polimera, uključivanje u razvoj proizvoda i kalupa te u suradnji s odgovarajućim specijaliziranim laboratorijima ispitivanje i identifikacija polimera. U laboratoriju se provode reološki, mehanički i toplinski proračuni, proračuni cijene otpreska, simulacija punjenja kalupne šupljine, izradba konstrukcijske dokumentacije itd. Razvoj proizvoda i kalupa, prototipne serije te brza proizvodnja prototipova i kalupa daljnji su poslovi laboratorija, kao i optimiranje parametara procesa, pomoć pri izradbi kompozitnih tvorevina i smješavanju kaučukovih smjesa. Laboratorij je uključen i u certificiranje polimernih tvorevina.
