Short summary (English)

Activities of Chair of IC Engines and Motor Vehicles consist of three major elements: 1. Education 2. Research 3. Industry collaboration Education implies training of highly competent professionals that have specific knowledge in the field of automotive engineering and their drives. In this process theoretical knowledge is obtained by attending courses while a lot of practical knowledge is obtained by working in the Laboratory. There is always an attempt to involve students in current scientific of industry projects. The research projects of Chair are majorly in the field of drive systems for vehicles. Within this field a slight emphasis was put on the research of new types of combustion in the internal combustion engine (HCCI) as well as on the development of models for simulation of combustion and engine operation. Additionally the optimization of actual combustion processes and the research of alternative fuels (biodiesel, biogas and ethanol) are made. Alongside the engine research Chair conducts research in the field of vehicle dynamics, i.e. the research of influences of vehicle design parameters on dynamic performance of vehicle and the optimization of such design parameters with aim of improving the performance of a vehicle. Within industry collaboration Chair helps companies when they encounter a specific problem in the field of engines and vehicles. In this work the Chair is writing studies, making calculations, making design changes etc.

Djelatnost katedre za motore i vozila odvija se kroz tri osnovna elementa: 1. Edukacija 2. Istraživanje 3. Suradnja Edukacija podrazumijeva izobrazbu visoko stručnih kadrova specifičnim znanjima iz područja inženjerstva automobila i njihovih pogona. Edukacija se sastoji od teorijskih znanja koja se stječu tijekom pohađanja kolegija, ali i velikog udjela praktičnih znanja koja studenti stječu tijekom rada u Laboratoriju za motore i vozila. Studente se u tom radu pokušava uključiti u trenutne stručne i znanstvene projekte. Istraživački projekti katedre za motore i vozila u većoj mjeri su orijentirani na istraživanja pogona. Pri tom je nešto veći naglasak stavljen na istraživanja novih oblika izgaranja u motoru s unutarnjim izgaranjem (HCCI) kao i na razvoj modela za simulaciju izgaranja i simulaciju rada motora. Pored novih oblika izgaranja provode se istraživanja i optimizacija na postojećim oblicima izgaranja, a i na upotrebi alternativnih goriva (biodizel, bioplin, etanol). Pored istraživanja rada motora Katedra za motore i vozila bavi se istraživanjima vezanim uz dinamiku vozila, tj. uz utjecaje konstrukcijskih parametara na dinamičke značajke vožnje te primjenom optimizacije u svrhu poboljšavanja istih. U okviru suradnje Katedra za motore i vozila pomaže industrijskim subjektima kada naiđu na specifični problem iz domene motora i vozila. Pri tome se izrađuju studije, proračuni, konstrukcije preinaka itd.
