Short summary (English)

The research of Foundry chair includes casting and evaluation of casting materials. These materials include cast iron materials, steel, Al and Cu alloys. For the production of test pieces sand casting and permanent mould casting processes are used. Materials are characterized in basic tests like step bar and tension bar. Casting properties of alloys are determined using fluidity and hot tearing tests. In alloy development thermodynamic calculation and analysis is used and melt treatment ensuring high quality of melt is very important. Mould design and prototype casting or a component manufacture is done with a help of simulation software for casting processes. The laboratory has simulation program QuikCAST ESI, Induction furnace, crucible size 4 l, electrically heated furnace to 1400 °C, crucible size 2,2 l, electrically heated furnace to 1000 °C, crucible size 15 l, mould sand mixer, core sand mixer, sand testing equipment. Laboratory is also used for the practical training of students and for performing students undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. thesis. The chair is organizing industry courses, and has cooperation with the foundries from the area.

Istraživački rad na Katedri za ljevarstvo obuhvaća lijevanje i evaluaciju metalnih materijala za lijevanje. To su željezni lijevovi, čelični lijev, te lijevane legure aluminija i bakra. Za izradu ispitnih uzoraka koriste se postupci gravitacijskog lijevanja u pješčane i metalne kalupe. Karakterizacija materijala provodi se temeljnim testovima kao što su stepenasta proba i normirane probe za određivanje vlačne čvrstoće. Ljevačka svojstva metala određuju se ispitivanjem tečljivosti i sklonosti nastanku toplih pukotina. Prilikom razvoja legura koristi se termodinamički proračun i analiza, nakon čega slijedi priprema i obrada taljevine, te eksperimentalno određivanje ljevačkih i mehaničkih svojstava. Prilikom oblikovanja kalupa i prototipnog lijevanja ili lijevanja određenog odljevka koristi se program za simulaciju lijevanja i skrućivanja. Oprema Laboratorija za ljevarstvo obuhvaća; program za simulaciju lijevanja QuikCAST ESI, indukcijska peć s loncem od 4 l, elektrootporna peć grijana do 1400 °C s loncem od 2,2 l, elektrootporna peć grijana do 1000 °C s loncem od 15 l, mješalica za kalupnu mješavinu, mješalica za jezgrenu mješavinu i oprema za ispitivanje svojstava kalupne mješavine. U Laboratoriju za ljevarstvo odvija se praktična obuka studenata, te izrada završnih, diplomskih i doktorskih radova. Katedra za ljevarstvo organizira seminare za industriju i surađuje sa ljevaonicama.
