Short summary (English)

The research group has expertise in the field of analytical chemistry. Our current research thrusts are directed at organic and amino acid profiling in different biological samples. For that purpose we have developed and implemented several methods for the determination of organic and amino acids in a variety of matrices, including food and human tissue. We are currently participating in a project focused on characterization of skin barrier determined by filaggrin breakdown products into water binding compounds (organic and free amino acids) in normal and compromised skin. In the future we intent to use these methods to study the influence of (supplementary) food and environmental factors on the function of the skin barrier.

Područja ekspertize istraživačke grupe je razvoj, validacija i primjena instrumentalnih analitičkih metoda u određivanju spojeva i njihovih metabolita u biološkom materijalu i okolišu. Glavni fokus istraživanja je određivanje profila organskih i amino kiselina u različitim biološkim materijalima. U tu svrhu, istraživačka grupa razvila je nekoliko analitičkih metoda za određivanje organskih i amino kiselina u različitim matricama uključujući hranu i humano tkivo. Istraživačka grupa sudjeluje u međunarodnom projektu čiji je cilj okarakterizirati kožnu barijeru, koja je određena produktima raspada proteina filaggrina (organske i slobodne amino kiseline) u normalnoj i oštećenoj koži. Razvijene metode primjenjivat će se za proučavanje utjecaja dodataka prehrani i okoliša na funkciju kožne barijere.
